Owner Matt Harp was raised in Valley Station where he resides today with his wife and business partner, Marae.

Matt began his career at Arrow Electric in 1994 where he consistently ranked in the top 5 percent of the Associated Builders and Contractors Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

In 1999, he joined the IBEW Local 369 and began his Union career with Henderson Electric.  He became a union journeyman wireman in September 1999 and opened Ruby Electric in April 2004.

Marae began working with Clements Catering, Inc. in August 1996 during the PGA Golf Tournament at Valhalla Golf Course.  She became general manager of the catering and restaurant operations in 1998.  She planned and executed countless weddings, corporate functions, private dinner for the Vice President of the United States, and 8 consecutive Kentucky Derby celebrations including the prestigious Kentucky Derby Winner’s Reception, Post Position Draw President’s Reception, Norton Healthcare Derby Gala and 2 Breeder’s Cup Celebrations.

Marae resigned from Clements Catering in August 2004 and joined Matt in running the company full time.  Together they have accepted the challenge of running the daily operations of the office and field of the rapidly growing Ruby Electric.
